Description of Services: Hospital inpatient amputee rehabilitation program with on-site prosthetics facility * helps adults who have lost a limb adjust to their amputation and work toward achieving full physical, psychological, and social potential
Requirements
Fees: Service and standard ward accommodation covered by OHIP * additional fees charged for semi-private and private rooms * prosthetics and orthotics may be covered by the Assistive Devices Program or other funding sources
Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Medically stable adults 18 years and older who have had an amputation of the foot or leg, or hand or arm * must have potential for recovery to an improved level of independence with the use or replacement of a prosthetic device and instruction in a comprehensive rehabilitation program * must have potential for improvement in functional independence by participating in a comprehensive rehabilitation program without the application of a prosthetic device (priority is given to amputees waiting for admission for prosthetic fitting) * patients admitted for non-prosthetic rehabilitation must demonstrate that adequate social support exists in their community living environment that can be adjusted to suit the patient's altered physical state and needs
